Watchless

It's 12.45am and unwell me ought to be in the land of Nod. I tried but this "lembay" cold shrimp just couldn't sleep.

In the process of insomnia (1 night only, i hope), i have made a decision!

*Drum roll*

I SHALL GO WATCHLESS FOR THE COMING MARATHON!!!

(for those reading this entry now - u may be thinking, "heng ah, mm si topless. Else many pple wld puke. Hehehehe)

Matter-of-factly, for all the running races with timing chips, i won't wear my watch anymore. Have been giving myself too much pressure over my timing. Anyway, i'm always too tired to look at the time & pace myself. The watch is only used to time the whole race which the chip will take care of...so, why bother? I'll be more relaxed without it :)

Why this sudden (seemingly trivial) thought? Maybe my recent misfortune at TNF 100 whammed me abit . Maybe i'm in search of a method to run Stanchart stresslessly. Or maybe i just wanna enjoy running all over again, in its purest form.

I chanced upon this newspaper article at my sports therapist's. An elite runner posed this question, "What kind of runner do you want to be?". The purpose is to determine the method of training & lifestyle one will have to lead after one has made his/her choice. He said there are 2 types of runners - those who want to better their timing & those who just wanna run to keep healthy. If one has chosen to race competitively, he/she will have to lead a runner's lifestyle.

"Wah. Does it have to be so serious?" That was the sentence that flashed across my mind after reading it.

Now. I am a runner in the middle of both types. Hee. I'm a libran so will tend to sit on the fence. So how? hehhe.

Picture a child running. I don't think he bothers about his posture, timing, type of clothes he is wearing, blah blah blah. Alright. It may be a little illogical to compare an adult runner with a kid. But i reckon that is the kind of carefreeness i want to feel...again :)
