The Lady

Gandhi, Mandela, Mother Teresa, Lincoln - names of martyrs who had done so much for the world.  However they are distant to me.  I am honored to witness history, one still in creation - Aung San Suu Kyi.

Of cos her name is not unknown to me but I have never been a keen fan of politics. All I know was that she was under house arrest for a great deal of time and extremely respected by the people of Myanmar. After some brief 're-introduction' to her background (the part about her choice to stay in her motherland when she could choose to return to a loving home in England), I was intrigued and decided to rent 'The Lady'.

Geez, I cried buckets! Her stubbornness, tenacity, courage and unwavering love for her country are beyond comprehension. As a woman, I honestly admit I will not be able to make the choices she made.  And the cast (esp. Michelle Yeoh) acted so darn well that it was heart-wrenching to continue watching at times.  The good thing was i knew the ending isn't going to be bad per se. History is still in the making.  And how we must cling on to hope.
