Pride?
Was it pride that hindered me from breaking the ice? Most prob not. If i can tell myself i will crawl to the finish line of any race if i need to, pride isn't a big word in my dictionary.
I guess it ain't easy to speak to a person who told you you don't measure up to his/her standards of a friend. It is as good as letting you know you aren't qualified. That hurts, really.
Perhaps I fear rejection or maybe I just don't know how to.
Darn, I could have gone for a run to get rid of the negative thots if not for the injury. Hmm..possibly, i can try a light run tmr.

Pre-Race Jitters (Again)
The time is 1.35am. Izit the tea or am i having pre-race jitters again? Heheh. Hmmm...i still gotta wake up later for a run at MacRitchie. I have ran this morning with the gang from BT to Mac & back. The run later is for the purpose of testing out both Salomon bags to pick the suitable one for JPTW.
Time flies. I'm flying off to Tokyo (exactly after 3 mths) next Tues, straight from work. Same time next week, I hope my team & i are resting after completing the Trailwalker.
I realised that nowadays, my pre-race jitters only take place if the distance is an unknown zone or the event is of some importance to me. For the last few marathons & halfs, i have no problem sleeping altho i am concerned abt my performance.
Our team training sessions have been more regular and "siong" as compared to the other 2 teams. Erm..but if u ask me abt objective, i am not sure if my views represent those of the team. Personally, i just hope to complete the 100km injury-free. Timing wise - maybe under 30hrs? It's a long distance and only HH has been there b4. For me, i dunno what are my physical and psychological reactions after 52km. The tot is both scary and exciting. I am looking forward to it:)
The irony is i've been "sick" of running this week. Not sure if we (or I) have overtrained. On Thurs, i ran on my own from home to Esplanade, trying out the Golite racepack that Sam lent me. It was a guy's cutting (i only learnt of it later on) hence did not fit me. The pack bounced so badly that i lost the mood to run home. Took a bus back but i wasn't frustrated abt not completing the original distance. Then on Sat am, i only clocked 10km with the gang. Distance aside, i did not push much despite not carrying my pack. I usually wld not stop running but i did :( Tsk tsk tsk...lazy mind.
After writing so much, i am still not sleepy! ARgh. Think i better go settle some packing then. As i speak, my stomach is growling again. But i lost 1.5kg from Mon til now. How can that happen? *roll eyes*

Labor Day Overnight Trg
Last year on eve of Labour Day, Joanne, KL, Keith, Raymond & I went to run a 21km at ECP, for no good reason. It was a PH eve and since we had nothing in plan, why not run? :P
This year, 365 days later, i spent 14 hours on the road. When we passed by Clarke Quay, some party-goers remarked tat there are still pple running at that hr? Anyway, that was only 10.30pm then. We started our run at 9.20pm from Kembangan MRT. With me was Hwee Hoon, Kee Leng, Cat, Clarence & Grace.
The weather was more humid these few days. I also felt heavy during the start of the run. Loaded my bag with actual day gear and tried the Adidas trail shoe that gave me blisters during my 52.5km MR25 Ultramarathon. I had never worn trail shoes for the past overnite runs. This was my first. I had to give it a try since we'll be on trail during JPTW.
Pace wasn't fast but i still had difficulty catching up. Legs just felt heavy and i kept panting. It was supposed to be a 30min run followed by 5-10min walk regime. Due to my slow pace, i went ahead & run continously from ECP Area C to Fort Road. I tot i needed to compensate my slowness with smtg. Serene met up with us there and we continued b4 a short stop at Cozy Bay.
From Cozy Bay to Lau Pa Sat, Serene & i continued to run while the rest stuck to the 30min/10min method. We had a 30min (or mb longer) while waiting for CM to join us. As we continued to Kim Seng Park, HH reminded me to try and keep to the 30min/10min plan. I reckon it's impt to train towards keeping the same pace as a team. It was reli selfish of myself to want to do it the way i tot was best for myself and/or the team.
Charles must have joined us at Zion Road. I couldn't reli rem the progress of this trg session. Perhaps i was too tired. When we hit Alexandra Park Connector, we slowed down to a walk before we resumed running at connector's end to MF foothill. Walked up the steep side and took a toilet break at the usual cafe. Sam joined us at this point. From MF, we ran to the petrol kiosk b4 Kent Ridge & took a 15min break before walking up. We then entered the biking trail and spent like half an hr inside. It was fun gg into trail in darkness. A route that is so clearly seen in the day can turn challenging at nite if u aren't familiar.
We turned out at Vigilante Drive & walked to South Buona Vista Road. Grace left the gp on our way to Buona Vista MRT. The time was 4am then. Continued to run & walk to Holland Road before we took a stretch break at the bus stop. The distance covered by then was 33km.
Turned into Old Holland Road and started running. It was a very nice place to run...quiet, airy and a good mix of flat & gradual upslopes. We exited the place to reach Bkt Timah Road. Next destination was Rifle Range Road. We proceeded to walk again as we hit off-road and into Zhenghua Park. I nearly fell asleep while walking the Chestnut trail towards Zhenghua. We ran abit during the final stretch to the coffeeshop. Stopped to walk up the steep slope til KL encouraged me to go slow. Aferall, it's just like less-than-a-min thingy.
It was daybreak when we reached the coffeeshop. I could feel the abrasion at my uh-hum area so quickly changed to my spare tights. Wow..i never knew a change of clothes in the midst of a run can feel this good! Had a bowl of fishball kwayteow noodles which was not filling. Grabbed a quick nap. Serene, CM, Charles & Clarence left at this juncture.
The rest of the trg was pure walk. The original plan was to hit back to BT then to MacRitchie. That 12km will make up the final part of 70km mileage. At Zhenghua Park, Cat told us that her abrasion problem is back. We decided then to cut short the trg & hit back to BT visitors' centre.
Dunno what trail we took but we met a lot of rude bikers. We had oredi made the effort to take cover and make way for them, they still made sarcastic remarks at us. Anyhow, i wasn't too bothered with these bad-mannered fat bikers :P
Had Char Kway Teow & honeydew milk at BTP foodcourt. Took #961 home with KL and concussed after i showered. Slept from 2 to 9pm but still woke up feeling tired. I shld have no prob falling asleep after blogging.
